One way of supporting a survivor is by practicing active listening. This entails putting aside your own thoughts, engaging with someone as they speak, and occasionally asking questions or repeating back what you heard to validate that person’s experience. #ZontaSaysNO #zontacoosbayarea #ZontaEmpowers #buildabetterworldforwomenandgirls #16days
Today is day 14 of the 16 Days of Activism Against Today is day 14 of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence. This international campaign calls for awareness and improved laws and services to end violence against women.
In Iran, the demands for fundamental change, finds girls and young women on the front lines. Jina, Mahsa’s Kurdish name, was only 22 when she died in Iranian police custody, and has come to symbolize the injustice of the state’s restrictive rules for women. As girls, they are required to wear the hijab upon reaching puberty. As women, they continue to be denied their choice of dress which impacts their right to take part in all aspects of public life including study, work and even leaving their home. Zonta Says No to Violence Against Women and believes women’s rights are human rights and every woman should be able to achieve her full potential.
